Tsinghua professor was arrested after taking photos at Sitong Bridge to prove freedom of speech in mainland China
More than a year after the "Sitong Bridge Incident" occurred, Beijing's Sitong Bridge is still a sensitive location closely monitored by the police. A student at Tsinghua University was caught taking photos at Sitong Bridge. A Tsinghua professor did not believe what happened to him and went to verify the case himself. As a result, the police detained him for questioning and recorded the case. Analysis points out that under the CCP’s brainwashing and information blockade, China’s intellectuals are cynical, ignorant, and unable to distinguish right from wrong.
On Monday (8th), some netizens uploaded three screenshots of conversations last week on the Tsinghua University on-campus communication platform "Tree Hole" to the social media "Freedom of Speech in China" issue. Some students retorted by saying that they were detained by the police for questioning after going to Sitong Bridge to take photos. However, Cai Wanhuan bluntly said that he could not believe it and said that "the Chinese Communist Party would not do this."
"Shudong" revealed that in order to "clarify the rumors," Cai Wanhuan personally went to Sitong Bridge to take photos for verification. As a result, he was "registered" by the police (a record of the interrogation was left after being detained for questioning). Cai expressed dissatisfaction on social media afterwards. However, the whistleblower did not disclose the specific content of Cai Wanhuan's dissatisfaction.
After the incident, students also discussed the incident. Some students said that they had checked in at Sitong Bridge two months ago and found that there were "tiaozi" (plainclothes police) monitoring the bridge. Some students thought that Cai Wanhuan "at least Seeking truth from facts is better than the bottle (Xi Jinping)"; some people ridiculed Cai Wanhuan for "making a big job" (meaning concocting influential events); some students believed that teachers in the School of Marxism should be allowed to investigate the suffering of the world .
Zhou Xiaozheng, a former professor at Renmin University of China who currently lives in the United States, told this station that today’s higher education institutions in Beijing are filled with scholars who are ignorant, do not understand or dare not touch Chinese politics. They actively or passively ignore the CCP’s lies.
In an interview with this station, Chen Guangcheng, a blind human rights lawyer living in the United States, believed that the Chinese Communist Party has fooled the people, and intellectuals have also been deceived.
Chen Guangcheng said: "Even though the Sitongqiao incident has spread so widely and deeply around the world, there are still many so-called senior intellectuals in universities in Beijing, the capital, who don't know about it. This proves that even if they have received Many people with higher education still have a considerable distance from their understanding of China's real society and the Chinese Communist Party's regime, and have been deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda machine. There is still a lot of room for us to expose the Communist Party's underworld-style governance."
Chen Guangcheng described this incident as free-thinking students teaching ideological and political teachers a lesson. He said that China should have real actors to promote enlightenment.

According to the official website of Tsinghua University, Cai Wanhuan, who was born in 1983, is a PhD graduate in political economics from the School of Economics of Renmin University of China and is currently an associate professor in the teaching and research series of the School of Marxism at Tsinghua University. It is understood that students’ evaluations of the “Socialism with Chinese Characteristics” course taught by Cai Wanhuan are mostly positive.
After the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Chinese government launched an extreme zero-clearance policy, which led to frequent humanitarian disasters and boiling public dissatisfaction. On October 13, 2022, three days before the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the "Sitong Bridge Warrior" Peng Lifa (screen name Peng Zaizhou) hung two slogans on the Sitong Bridge in Beijing to protest Xi Jinping and the zero-clearance policy, which read "Don't Nucleic acid needs food; no blockade but freedom; no lies but dignity; no cultural revolution but reform; no leader but votes; no slaves but citizens" and "school strikes to remove the dictator Xi Jinping." Peng Lifa was immediately arrested and secretly detained. His whereabouts are still unknown. At the same time, the "Sitong Bridge Slogan" soon spread around the world and became the main slogan of the "White Paper Movement" in China and around the world.
Last Sunday (7th) was Peng Lifa’s 50th birthday.
